Want to make sure I am backing up all the files I should be for that "just in case moment" that won't come if I do my backing up:)

Currently I back up to an external drive my race card files. These have files that look like: 0809j07.BTP and further down BTP0809.DAT, BTP0809.jcp, BTP0809.xrd, and BTP0809F.

Are there other files I should be backing up, like ones with my UDMs on them? If so, what and where are they?

Love this program!

Thanks,

Jcapper.mdb which lives in the C:\2004 folder, and Jcapper2.mdb which lives in the C:\Jcapper\exe folder. That means you'll have your database, UDM's, and UPR all backed up.

At least that's what I backup every month.

Thanks! That's what I'll do going forward.

Charlie nailed it.

The c:\2004\JCapper.mdb file and the c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb file are the two files where your "work" is contained.

Should you undergo some hardware meltdown - everything else can be replaced by a combination of reinstalling the program from the JCapper site and contacting HDW for copies of back data and results files that you originally paid for.

Your "work" is the only thing I can't replace.

If you value your work you should be backing up these two files on a regular basis:

• c:\2004\JCapper.mdb

This file contains:

1. Settings persisted in the User System Definitions Screen

2. Settings persisted in the Enhanced Settings Module

3. UDM Definitions created in the UDM Wizard

4. Entries made in UPR Tools and/or the ImpactValues Table Wizard to create UserFactors and UPR.

• c:\JCapper\Exe\JCapper2.mdb

This file contains your:

1. SQL Factor Setup (factors assigned to slots 1-35)

2. SQL HTML Report Layout (the report layout can be customized)

3. StarterHistory Table

4. TripNotes Table

5. WagerHistory Table

For anyone interested, here's a link to an older thread where comprehensive background info was posted about the various JCapper file types:

All .mdb files are subject to a 2.0 gigabyte file size limit. Most users can get somewhere between 15-24 months of data into the StarterHistory table of a JCapper2.mdb file before bumping up against this file size limit.

Here is a link to an older thread where comprehensive info about managing JCapper2.mdb files was posted:

Thanks Jeff!

If I back it up I probably won't need it, so am backing up regularly.
